About

Years ago I was raising kids and looking for a part-time job when I saw an ad for a graphic design position at my hometown newspaper. I had no design experience whatsoever, but I thought the job sounded fun - and more importantly, it would give me the opportunity to get my hands on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, which I'd never used but knew by reputation.  I got the job and was off to the races.

I am completely self-taught in all areas of graphic design, and since taking that part-time job (which quickly became full-time), I've gained proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat Pro. It doesn't feel like work to me, so learning the software, exploring new features, looking for productivity shortcuts, and soaking up inspiration from other designers are some of the things I do for fun. I don't have a degree in design, but opportunities to learn and improve upon skills online are endless, and I take full advantage of them.

I left the newspaper a few years ago, and am working to build up my graphic and web design business with IMQ Creative.  I also have an Etsy shop where I sell some of the projects I do for fun in my spare time.

If you're looking to work with someone who has a demonstrated enthusiasm for design, a record of success with a variety of customers, and a strong drive to give customers a pleasant collaborative experience resulting in a beautiful finished product, get in touch today!
